How I’m Running Multiple Shopify Stores (With Payments Enabled) Without Losing My Mind

Look, I’ll be straight with you: running one Shopify store is stressful enough. Running three, five, or ten? Most people would tell you you’re crazy.

But here’s the thing—I’ve been doing this for a while now, and it’s actually not as complicated as it sounds. You just need to be smart about how you set things up.

Why Bother With Multiple Stores?

For me, it came down to not putting all my eggs in one basket. I had one store doing okay, but I kept seeing products I wanted to test that just didn’t fit my brand. A fishing lure store doesn’t sell yoga pants, right?

So I started expanding. Now I’ve got:

The beauty? If one store has a slow month, the others keep things moving. And when you figure out what works in one niche, you can sometimes apply those lessons to another.

The Problem Nobody Talks About

Here’s what Shopify doesn’t tell you when you’re starting out: they really don’t want you running multiple stores from the same computer.

What Actually Works

1. Each Store Gets Its Own Digital “Room”

If you’re running a US store, you better look like you’re actually in the US.

For each Multilogin profile, I pair it with a residential IP that matches roughly where that store’s identity is based. Store registered in Texas? I’m logging in from a Texas IP. Store in Ohio? Ohio IP.

It sounds paranoid until you realize Shopify’s fraud detection is actually pretty sophisticated. Make it easy for them to approve you.

  5. Close the profile, open a fresh one for store two. Never mix them.

It’s really that straightforward. The hard part is keeping everything organized and actually building the stores without linking them.

What I Wish Someone Had Told Me

A few random things I learned:

  • Keep notes. I use a spreadsheet with which identity goes with which store, which IP, which email, etc. Future you will thank you.
  • Don’t get greedy. Start with two stores. Get them stable. Then add a third. I jumped to five at once and nearly burned out.
